Dear PES families,

As we move into the second half of the school year, I want to take a moment to emphasize the critical role that regular attendance plays in our students’ success. We know that consistent attendance is directly tied to better academic performance, stronger social connections, and greater overall well-being.

Why Attendance Matters:

• Learning Continuity: Every day in school offers unique learning opportunities that build on each other. Missing even a few days can leave gaps in understanding, making it harder for students to catch up.

• Social Development: School isn’t just about academics—it’s also where children develop social skills and build friendships. Missing school means missing these important interactions.

• Setting a Strong Foundation: Good attendance habits in elementary school set the stage for future academic success. Students who attend school regularly are more likely to graduate and succeed in their future educational endeavors.

Our Goal:

We are striving for 100% attendance every day, but we understand that illness and unavoidable circumstances can arise. If your child is absent, please make sure to communicate with us so we can support you in helping your child catch up.

Tips for Encouraging Good Attendance:

• Establish a consistent bedtime and morning routine to ensure your child is well-rested and prepared for the school day.

• If your child is feeling unwell, check with the school for assignments or resources they can work on at home to stay caught up.

• Encourage your child to look forward to school by highlighting fun activities, learning experiences, and social opportunities.

Together, we can help our students develop strong habits that will benefit them both now and in the future. Thank you for your continued support in making attendance a priority.

Sincerely,

Olivia Dickey
